Diane Boots is the heart behind Lifting Their Minds, a nonprofit organization in Akwesasne meaning “where the partridge drums” located on sacred Mohawk land spanning from upstate New York and into Ontario, Canada. The organization’s mission is to preserve traditional end of life practices among community members through education and the building of two homes where families can be together during a loved ones last days.
